I don’t know what they’re on in Arizona, but I want some.

An Arizona police department shared photos from the swearing-in of the teams newest member; Iroh the drug-sniffing lizard. Yeah, seriously.

Iroh the bearded dragon first came to the Avondale Police Department last April as part of a pilot program, and was sworn in by Police Chief Nannenga last Thursday.

The department originally brought him in after recent research indicated reptiles have a strong enough sense of smell to make them more effective than dogs at detecting some types of narcotics.

“Research has shown that reptiles possess a strong sense of smell making their ability to detect certain illicit drugs possibly more accurate than K9s. Our pilot program drug sniffing bearded dragon will be assisting Officers in the City.”

Well, okay then! You go, Iroh!
