There’s been a little confusion, but the SPCA is planning to close doors at the end of this month. Some plans are in place to possibly re-open, or continue, but there are still plenty of unknowns.

MESSAGE FROM GPSPCA BOARD PRESIDENT

“Thank you so much to everyone for your support and your interest in the GPSPCA’s situation. Though we’re down at the moment WE’RE NOT OUT!! Last Tuesday CRA froze our bank accounts and, as a result, we are unable to pay our staff. We can’t ask them to work for nothing so the May 31st closing date was put in place so they could make some choices for themselves. We are, however, hopeful that this is a very temporary layoff and, sooner rather than later, we will have them back and the shelter will be back to business as usual. We have some good options to explore yet and I’m hopeful that we can have this situation resolved, at least enough to reopen the shelter, in a relatively short time. In the meantime, you can help us most by donating financially to our Go Fund Me page. Though we can’t access the funds at the moment, once we get CRA to release our account, and we will, we can make use of those funds to keep our operation going. That means any and all donations are very much appreciated – we weren’t kidding when we said we need $250,000. Thank you again for all your support and I assure you we WILL be back!”
