From March 8-21, Christie’s will showcase a fascinating array of memorabilia from the personal collection of renowned British photographer and model, Pattie Boyd. Boyd, revered as a muse to both George Harrison and Eric Clapton, will offer fans a glimpse into her captivating world through this exclusive online auction.

Hailed as “one of the greatest muses in rock history” by Christie’s in a recent press release, Boyd’s influence extended deeply into the realms of music and art. As the wife of George Harrison during the height of Beatlemania and beyond, Boyd inspired a multitude of songs, including some of Harrison’s most beloved tracks such as “I Need You,” “Something,” and “For You Blue.”

Yet, it was her connection with Eric Clapton that added a complex layer to Boyd’s narrative. Clapton, a close friend of Harrison’s, fervently pursued Boyd for years, as evidenced by a collection of intimate love letters included in the auction. These letters offer a poignant glimpse into the emotions and desires that fueled one of rock’s most enduring love triangles.

Boyd’s relationship with Clapton ultimately led to marriage, yet their union was tumultuous, marked by struggles with substance abuse and infidelity. Despite the challenges, Boyd’s presence continued to inspire Clapton’s music, most notably the iconic hit “Layla,” a song that has left an indelible mark on music history.

For Boyd, the decision to part with these cherished items marks a significant step in her personal journey. “Do I need them? Do I need to keep going into Pandora’s Box?” she reflects. “It’s only right I should pass them on,” she concluded in a recent interview with Christie’s.

The auction will feature a diverse array of items, including rare photographs capturing intimate moments with Harrison and Clapton, as well as a collection of postcards, telegrams, and letters that offer a window into Boyd’s extraordinary life. Prior to the auction, these items will be on display at Christie’s in London from March 15-22, allowing fans and collectors alike the opportunity to immerse themselves in the captivating world of Pattie Boyd.
