U2 had a bustling Sunday evening on February 4th. Not only did they treat audiences worldwide to a glimpse of the stunning visuals from their ongoing residency series at Las Vegas’ Sphere during a remote performance at the 66th annual Grammy Awards, but the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers also unveiled a remix of their single “Atomic City,” tailored for the dancefloor.

Originally released in September to coincide with the start of the band’s inaugural Vegas residency, the track received a predictable rhythmic upgrade from Guetta. Infusing it with an insistent thump and a classic EDM drop, the remix transforms the straightforward rocker into a dance-friendly anthem. During the Grammy performance, U2 took to the stage within the Sphere, beginning the segment outside the venue with larger-than-life images of the Irish rockers projected onto its spherical exterior.

This marked the first occasion cameras were permitted inside the venue, which has swiftly become one of the most iconic spots on the Las Vegas strip. U2 were the pioneering act to grace the Sphere’s stage in September, and their standalone release of “Atomic” soared to the top spot on Adult Alternative Airplay charts in November, marking their 14th No. 1 hit in this category. Following their Grammy performance, U2’s frontman Bono presented the award for Best Pop Vocal Album, ultimately claimed by Taylor Swift’s “Midnights.”

U2 are slated to continue their performances at the Sphere until March 2nd. They will be succeeded by Phish, who are set to perform four gigs from April 18th to 21st, followed by Dead & Co., the Grateful Dead spin-off group, who recently announced a 24-show run scheduled from May 16th to July 13th.
