We now know when we’ll be able to see Carlos, the new documentary about Carlos Santana that premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. Acquired by Sony Picture Classics, Carlos will screen September 23, 24, and 27 at movie theaters worldwide, with introductory remarks from Santana and director Rudy Valdez, a two-time Emmy Award winner whose previous credits include The Sentence and We AreThe Brooklyn Saints.  Tickets for Carlos: The Santana Journey Global Premiere go on sale August 24 via carlosfilm.com, and a general theatrical release begins September 29.

In addition to conversations with Santana himself, Carlos includes appearances by his longtime record company advocate Clive Davis, Smooth collaborator Rob Thomas and others. No soundtrack album is currently planned to accompany the documentary.
After touring during the summer Santana returns to his residency at the House of Blues Las Vegas on Sept. 6, with shows there through Sept. 17 and another run set for November. Details can be found via santana.com.
