According to an analysis by the Central Intelligence Agency, The Cook Islands drink more alcohol than any other country, per capita. The average resident drinks about 13 liters of alcohol annually, which is more than 100 glasses of wine.

Austria, France, and Estonia place in the top 10, and Ireland, Poland, Spain, and Germany crack the top 20. The United States places 35th with the average American consuming 8.9 liters of alcohol in a year.

In the United States, 25% of men and 20% of women reported binge drinking within the last month.
