There’s been a lot of musicians covering other musicians this year, like when Post Malone did Nirvana or Billie Joe Armstong with his ‘No Fun Mondays’, but Metallica doing Alice in Chains is quite possibly the best.

Alice In Chains received the honour of this year’s Museum Of Pop Culture (MoPOP) Founders Award on December 1st. Many artists paid their respects to the band with covers of their classic songs such as Smashing Pumpkin’s Billy Corgan, Nirvana’s Kirst Novoselic, and Korn even to name a few.

Metallica’s stripped down version of ‘Would?’ sticks out though because of the unusual beauty that shines through from the simplicity of how they chose to do the cover. ‘Would?’ already is a powerful song, which is amplified by Metallica in their version of the hit, and you can really see the range James Hetfield truly has.
