Bye Lemmy.

To some he is known as Ian Kilmister… to most of us, his name is lemmy. The founding member and singer in the British heavy metal band Motörhead, has died at the age of 70 shortly after learning he had been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer.

Motorhead announced on their Facebook page that lemmy was at home when he died.

Lemmy, formed Motörhead in 1975 and was its only constant member, as singer and bassist. The band released 23 studio albums and are best known for their 1980 single Ace of Spades.

Tributes are pouring in with Ozzy Osbourne tweeting: “Lost one of my best friends, Lemmy, today. He will be sadly missed. He was a warrior and a legend. I will see you on the other side.”

Dave Mustaine wrote on his twitter @DaveMustaine: Farewell Lemmy. I love you brother.

You can pay tribute however you like, but this afternoon on ROCK 97.7 we will be playing this song below, LOUD and PROUD for all that Lemmy gave his fans, and music over his decorated musical life.
